Hi, I am Norma, welcome to this website.

About Norma and Four Elements Psychotherapy

Hi, my name is Norma Mckinnon Fathi and I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and trainer who works both online and outdoors with individuals and groups. Four Elements Psychotherapy is my practice where I strive to work from an ecological and systemic perspective.

I have extensive clinical experience as a psychotherapist and my journey as a therapist has been varied and includes working in private practice and in agency based clinical settings. I previously managed clinical services for a National Charity.

I also co-founded and was the Director of an organisation whose work focused on trauma, wellbeing, resilience and social change within marginalized communities. I am currently the Academic Director on a counselling training course and a core tutor on a Transactional Analysis training course.

In addition to being a psychotherapist I am a qualified community education worker and have an interest in supporting community activists who are working toward social change and people who experience discrimination. I am interested in how our social and political worlds; local and global, impact on our individual and collective well-being. I am also interested in how our environment shapes our memories, our stories and our sense of self. I have additional training in Ecotherapy that informs my practice.

I live and work in Scotland and I have a deep connection and respect for our environment. I love connecting with nature and being outdoors.

Locations

I work both online and outdoors. My practice is easily accessible from local areas, and outdoor therapy sessions take place in pre-arranged locations with good public transport links. Some sessions may occur in more remote, natural settings for a deeper connection with nature.

Mugdock Park, Dumbrock Muir & Craigallian Forest

Mugdock Park, Dumbrock Muir & Craigallian Forest

Mugdock country park and the adjacent Dumbrock moor are both scenic outdoor spaces located in the north of Glasgow. Mugdock park offers both paved areas and forestry tracks, open spaces and more enclosed areas for walking. There are slight and steep slopes on some of the paths. Many of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.

Craigallian Forest is adjacent to the country park and has a mixture of woodland trails and forestry parks. The ground underneath tends to be compact and at times uneven and stoney. Dumbrock Muir is open flat grassland, with open outlooks towards the Campsie hills, the ground has faint trails in grassland.

The meeting points to access all these locations are very close by so we have a bit of flexibility to respond to and accommodate different weather conditions. These locations are not accessible directly by public transport, but public transport stops nearby.

Ardinning Nature Reserve

Ardinning Nature Reserve

Well-marked paths lead to wilder trail paths on the reserve, that has both open moor spaces and a woodland area. The reserve is a place of natural beauty and for many months of the year hosts a variety of wildflowers, dragonflies and butterflies. Lovely vista’s over towards the Campsie’s and onwards towards Ben Lomond and the Arrochar Alps on a clear day. Some of the route can be boggy in wet weather, but there are some nice well marked paths that can be accessed instead when the going gets tough.

Partial Disabled Access

Accessible by public transport via x10 Bus to Stirling

Botanic Gardens

Glasgow West End and Dawsholm Park

Botanic Gardens – Glasgow West End and Dawsholm Park

The botanic garden is situated in Glasgow’s West End and is the home to overover 9000 different plants. The Garden can also access the River Kelvin and Kelvin walkway. The park or garden does have footpaths that have either a tarmac or gravel surface, and the majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users. There are bench seats situated along the paths.

The Gardens can be found at 730 Great Western Road, Kelvinside, Glasgow, G12 0UE. There is a bus stop within 150m of the Gardens and the nearest underground station is Hillhead.

Dawsholm Park

Dawsholm Park

Dawsholm park is situated in the G61 area of Glasgow. It is known for its mature woodland, grassland areas and abundance of Birds and other wildlife. The park links to Long distance foot paths cycle ways, The Kelvin Walkway (City Centre to Fort William) and the Cycle Way (City Centre to Bearden Milngavie).

The park adjoins the Kelvindale, Maryhill and Temple areas of the city, and southern parts of the town of Bearsden.
