This policy is for Norma Mckinnon Fathi, Counselling, Psychotherapy, Supervision and Training, trading as Four Elements Psychotherapy
It is important that you understand how and why I collect and use your personal information, if I work with you. This privacy notice sets out my policy on the collection and use of your data, and your rights under data protection legislation in the United Kingdom.
I am registered with the ICO number 00017752092
Why do I collect personal information?
I offer services that include counselling and psychotherapy, supervision, training and events.
To deliver these services and to respond to enquiries I may need to collect personal information from individuals seeking counselling, supervision, or participating in training or other events.
What might I request?
I may request personal information from you, such as your name and contact details, to provide you with services.
I might also request sensitive personal information, such as your reasons for seeking counselling, psychotherapy or supervision.
If you attend a professional training, or one of my public events I might request personal information, such as your name and contact details, and payment details, so that I can process your order and record your attendance at this event.
How will I request this information?
I will seek your active consent (specific permission) to provide this information (either in writing or orally).
Through certain actions when there is no contractual relationship between us, such as when you visit my website or ask me to provide you with more information about my services, you provide your consent to me to process your information. At times your consent may be given implicitly, such as when you write to me via email requesting a response.
You have the right to withhold certain information, if you wish. I may still be able to provide you with a service, even if you choose to withhold information, this will depend on the service you are accessing. For Counselling, Psychotherapy and Supervision I do require certain information to provide these services.
If you wish to withhold information, please tell me as soon as possible, and I will explain what this means in terms of whether I can continue to work with you.
What will I do with this information, and who will I share it with?
I will use the personal information you have given me to provide you with the service you have requested.
I will not use your personal information for any purpose other than the purposes I told you about at the time you agreed to share it with us, unless I am required to do so by law.
I do not share any information collected through this website or through our work together with other organisations.
How will I store this information?
Records are held securely in line with professional standards.
I sometimes use a third-party online tool for general office purposes, for example to publicise and run professional training and events. The data you provide through those tools are securely stored there, and again, access is restricted so only I can access it.
How long will I store this information?
I will only store your information for as long as necessary, or as long as I am required to do so by law. I will continue to process your information on this basis until you withdraw your consent, or it can be reasonably assumed that your consent no longer exists.
You have the right to withdraw your consent and ask me to delete information I hold about you. If you need more information about your rights, you can visit this website for an overview: www.knowyourprivacyrights.org
If you are not happy with how I have used or processed your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office on 0303 123 1113 or at www.ico.org.uk/concerns.
Thank you for taking the time to read our Privacy Notice.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my therapy services or to arrange an initial consultation. This allows us to discuss what brings you to therapy and how I may be able to support you. I offer both online and outdoor sessions, and I am happy to explore which option might suit you best.
I will endeavour to respond to your enquiry within 5 working days.
